Job Description


The teacher will be responsible for all organization, teaching, and supervision within the area of their assigned responsibility. The teacher will endeavor to keep the Director informed as necessary of activities, the progress of students, and condition of the classroom. The position will participate as an active member of the school staff and adhere fully to the stated purposes, standards, policies, and procedures of the school and home-church. The teacher will work together with the Director and other staff to develop and maintain a quality program of events that enhance the mission of the school.

Essential Qualifications


1. Christian Commitment: A personal Christian faith and close walk with the Lord and agreement with the doctrinal statement of the home-church.

2. Passion for Teaching: Instruct children in a loving, positive manner following the specific curriculum as set forth by the Director.

3. Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.

4. Licensure/Certification: Maintain professional certification and endorsements as required by the State of Washington.

5. Software and Equipment Used: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Email

6. Completed background check (post-interview) and three references (professional, clerical, personal).


Essential Job Duties


- The teacher will provide direct instruction to students using an established curriculum. Develop and implement age appropriate daily lessons that follow the school’s curriculum plan.

- The teacher will create and maintain a fun, safe, and age appropriate classroom environment in which the children will learn, grow, and thrive socially and spiritually.

- Establish and maintain a well functioning team with the (possible) assistant teachers and/or parent volunteers in the classroom. Delegate in an appropriate manner those duties in which the assistant teacher or parent volunteers will support the classroom.

- Create and maintain a classroom behavior plan. Discuss concerns you may have about your students with administration and with parents.

- Create and communicate lesson plans and weekly communications with parents and with administration.

- Be available to colleagues for questions, problem solving and collaboration.

- Observe and document student’s progress toward achievement of established developmental standards. Write child/classroom observations and progress reports.

- Be available/participate in staff meetings, in-service and parent events, special programs, and parent/teacher conferences.

- Maintain professionalism, calm demeanor and confidentiality in a busy open setting.

- Dress modestly and appropriately maintaining professional standards at all times.

- Arrive at school 45 minutes prior to start and stay 45 minutes after completion of school daily.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.
